Suitable for beginners who want to develop their photography skills and learn more about how to get the most out of their smartphone, mirrorless camera or DSLR camera. Learn about exposure, explore composition, and the importance of light within the West End of Fremantle .

Peter Zuvela has been working in Fremantle since 1998 and knows Fremantle (Walyalup) like the back of his hand. Born in Fremantle, Peter graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Photography from Perth TAFE in 1998. Since graduation he has held two solo shows, exhibited in a large number of group shows and worked as a freelance photographer-artist and teacher from the J Shed Art Studio on Bathers Beach in Fremantle WA. He has run Fremantle walking photography tours for more than 10 years with cameras and more recently smartphones.

LEVEL 1 BEGINNERS COURSE

A short course introducing you to the world of digital photography. Ideal for beginners and also those with little camera experience.

Students will learn how to use their digital camera and get to know the basics of the photographic medium. You will be introduced to photographic theory, a short history of photography, types of cameras and lenses, camera basics, demystifying your digital camera and its settings.

The course will cover camera equipment and an introduction to the use of the computer and printer. Its basic aim is to give you the skills to improve your ways of seeing and using your camera. These techniques can be applied to your own artistic expression or documentation of your own artworks.

Students will need a digital camera (and laptop however laptop is desirable but not essential to do the course).

LEVEL 2 INTERMEDIATE COURSE

This course is ideal for those who want to further explore digital photography as an art form. It will cover the use of digital photography as a tool for documentation, as an expressive medium in its own right and as a way to use the photographic medium to aid the development of your own art works.

This is a practical course exploring different themes and techniques to express artistic ideas. You will further explore photographic theory, types of cameras and lenses, demystifying your digital camera and its settings so you can use manual over ride with confidence, ISOs, file size, composition and the importance of light. You will be shown the basic skills needed to use the computer and printer to enhance and save your images.

The course is project based with ongoing feedback and guided photo excursions in Fremantle and its surrounds.

Students will need a DSLR camera or a Mirrorless camera (and laptop however laptop is desirable but not essential to do the course).
